History and Background Information
ROOTs Transition is a behavior-modification program that opened in June of 2021. It is marketed as a Residential Treatment Center for teenage girls (14-18) who are struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, school failure, family conflict, history of PTSD, medically stable eating disorders, drug use, promiscuity or personality disorder traits. The program’s average length of stay is reportedly between 6 and 9 months, and its tuition is reportedly between $10,000 and $15,000 per month.
The program is located at 150 Highland Dr, Park City, UT 84098.
Founders and Notable Staff
Kami Black is the Founder of ROOTs Transitions. She previously worked as the and Therapist and later the Executive Director of Solstice RTC from 2009 until 2020. She also previously worked at the the confirmedly abusive Lifeline for Youth, a known rebrand of KIDS of Greater Salt Lake which was a direct spin-off of the notoriously abusive Straight Inc., from 1998 until 2009. She left Solstice in April of 2020 to create ROOTs Transition.
Jamie Palmer currently works as the Executive Clinical Director of ROOTs Transition. She previously worked as the Clinical Director of Solstice RTC from 2013 until 2021. Before this, she worked as a Clinician at the confirmedly abusive Lifeline for Youth, a known rebrand of KIDS of Greater Salt Lake which was a direct spin-off of the notoriously abusive Straight Inc. She worked at Lifeline from 2005 until 2008, and then went on to work at Cottonwood Treatment Center from 2010 until 2013, before working at Solstice.
Stacey Rosenberg is the current Program Director of ROOTS Transition. She previously worked as the Program Director of Solstice RTC. She has also worked at Solstice as the Recreation Director. Her sister, Leslie Rosenberg, works at Solstice East in North Carolina. Before this, she worked for many years at the confirmedly abusive Island View.
Eliza Hitz is the current Parent Clinical Director of ROOTs Transition. Prior to this, she worked as a Therapist and the Equine Therapy Director of Solstice RTC. Prior to this, she worked as a Therapist at confirmedly abusive Island View.
Virginia Scott Prowse is the current Academic Director of ROOTs Transition. Prior to this, she was the Academic Director of the reportedly abusive Solstice RTC. She then worked as the Marketing Director of Solstice RTC from 2014 until 2015, when she left. She then worked as a Life Coach until joining ROOTs in 2021.
Lauren Clark Angerosa is the Director of Admissions at ROOTs Transition. She began her career in the TTI as an Admissions Counselor at the reportedly abusive Oakley School, a now-closed Aspen Education Group program, from 2010 until 2011. She then worked as an Admissions Counselor at Outback Therapeutic Expeditions, another Aspen program from 2012 until 2015. She later worked as the Admissions Director of the reportedly abusive Eva Carlston Academy from 2017 until 2019. She then worked as the Admissions Director of WinGate Wilderness from 2019 until 2021, when she joined ROOTs.

Like other behavior-modification programs, ROOTs Transition uses a level-system consisting of three levels. The levels are reportedly:
